Hays County - Total Market Value for All Property
The total market value of property in the county increased 417.17% between 2014 and 2024, and there has been no sign of it slowing down. As the premier suburban area of Travis County, more people are flooding into Hays every year. The success of Austin has had a knock-on effect across the area, bringing both weal and woe in its wake. Prosperity is great for those that can afford it, but taxes and values quadrupling in a decade can also be disastrous for those not able to cope with the costs.
Valued at $68.22 billion, Hays County has a great concentration of wealth for an area with only 126,800 parcels. This value is disproportionately found in single family homes, which contributed $37.63 billion in 2024. Residential properties are the fastest climbers, which can be a difficult road to hoe for homeowners with limited income. Industrial properties were valued at $20.64 billion, while commercial properties sat at $5.91 billion. The largest growth in a single year was between 2021 and 2022.
